Qi-Gong
Why I Want to Teach QiGong
My journey with QiGong began as a search for relief and recovery, both physically and emotionally. As a professional dancer, my body has always been my instrument, and years of intense training took their toll, leading to injuries and chronic pain and emotional exhaustion. While I had explored various methods for managing these challenges, it wasn’t until I discovered QiGong that I truly found something that resonated deeply with me.
As I began to practice, I quickly realized that QiGong is a holistic approach that connected body, mind, and spirit in a way I hadn’t experienced before.
The beautiful philosophy and knowledge based on the observation of nature resonated with me, as did the supportive community and wonderful teachers I met during my training. The space was free of judgment and expectations, open and accepting for me to find my own way and be present on my own journey—an incredible and life-changing experience for which I am forever grateful.
As a highly sensitive person, I’ve experienced joy in learning and discovering the knowledge that QiGong offers where everything makes sense — so simple, yet so complex. It is not about moving in a certain way; it is about learning to listen to owr body, to understand its needs, and to support it.
I truly wish to create a supportive and inclusive environment where people can explore QiGong as it was once offered to me— connecting with our inner selves, creating an emotionally safe space for people, and supporting each other in our personal journeys.
By teaching QiGong, I hope to empower others to take steps to support their health and well-being, experience the joy of movement, and perhaps discover the inner peace that QiGong can bring.
What is QiGong?
QiGong is a Chinese system of holistic health practice, with roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine and martial arts, and a history spanning over 4,000 years. The term “Qi” translates to “vital energy”, while “Gong” refers to cultivation or achievent. Together, QiGong can be best understood as “energy cultivation” or “working with life energy.” This practice integrates the body, mind, and breath through a series of slow, flowing movements and still poses, designed to harmonize and balance the flow of energy within.
A calm, focused mind, known as “Yi,” is one of the most important components of practicing QiGong. This focused intention guides the flow of Qi, helping to release physical and emotional blockages. The goal of QiGong isn’t about achieving a perfect form, but rather about supporting your body and mind.
QiGong is traditionally performed standing, but it can be easily adapted with variations to suit any individual’s needs, making it accessible to people of all ages, abilities, personalities, and backgrounds. With very few contraindications, QiGong offers a gentle yet powerful way to support your health, release tension, and cultivate a state of focused attention in the present moment.
